As a Son of Toru-Angiama community, I am inspired to influence positive change and progress in the community. The community is economically impoverished, and the resident youths are faced with the challenge of positive life's choices. It is easy to act like the colonialists to swoop in and act like the avatar of wisdom and enlightenment. The more practical route in my opinion is meeting them where they are, understanding their plight, and affecting positive change from that point. And what else can initiate the conversation but the fellowship food brings, and being open minded with no judgment.
